South Shields theatre society to host open auditions for a twist on an iconic horror story
An open casting event is coming to a historic South Shields theatre.
The Westovian Theatre Society has announced an open casting session for its upcoming production of Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s Dracula.
The show, at the Pier Parade theatre, is a reimagining of Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, told from the perspective of Mina Harker.

It sees Mina, who was the sole survivor of the tragic events, retell Dracula’s journey from Transylvania to London by bringing the letters and journals of Mina, Lucy, Jonathan and Van Helsing to life.
The cast of characters includes Mina Harker, Jonathan Harker, Lucy Westenra, Renfield, Van Helsing, and Count Dracula.
The production will feature a minimum cast of eight, with opportunities available to play multiple ensemble characters.
The open casting call will be held at The Westovian Theatre, in South Shields, on Friday, September 11, from 6.30pm.
Dracula will run at the theatre from November 4 until November 7.
