Kennie Malia eyes home tie as Jarrow cause FA Vase shock against Marske United
Jarrow progressed into the FA Vase first round proper with a shock win against Marske United.
Kennie Malia wants a home tie in Monday’s FA Vase first round draw after his side caused a shock by seeing off Northern League Division One side Marske United in a second qualifying round tie on Saturday.
All of the hard work was done inside the opening 20 minutes as summer signing Stephen Siyanbola struck a devastating hat-trick to put Malia’s men firmly in control at Perth Green. The visitors got a goal back ten minutes into the second-half when Finn McKitterick found the net - but that was not enough to stop Jarrow claiming a place in the first round proper for the third consecutive season.

Speaking after the game, Malia hailed his side for producing another impressive display on their home patch and expressed his desire to land another home tie in the next round.
He told The Gazette: “I am really pleased with the victory because the lads where outstanding in the first half and it looked like we were the Division One side. There were some really good performances across the pitch but Jack Armstrong, Luca Nelson and Stephen Siyanbola with his hat-trick really stood out for me. We will look forward to Monday’s draw and I know the fans would love a big away day - but for me I'd love a home tie. We have a brilliant record at home so I'd back us every time at our place in front of our fans.”
Malia and his players now have a free midweek to prepare for next Saturday’s visit to Sunderland RCA.
