Matthias Jaissle makes triple Newcastle United change v Everton - predicted starting XI

Newcastle United take on Everton in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has said not to expect too many changes against Everton this evening.

Jaissle has vowed to go “all in” at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as the Magpies, backed by 7,700 away supporters, look to advance into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup for a fifth successive campaign.

The winner of tonight’s tie will play League Two side Fleetwood Town for a place in the semi-finals.

United are boosted by their 2-0 win at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on a Sunday, a result that ended a run of two straight defeats, and Jaissle isn’t planning any major changes from that starting line-up.

“Due to the history now from the club in that competition, I have the same approach to play with the best possible line-up,” Jaissle told reporters at his pre-match press conference. “This is clear.

“I heard now we're getting huge support, again, in an away match, really special, during a week having [nearly] 8,000 fans with us, taking the journey to support us.

“That's something which shows the importance about that competition, and we will for sure also be aligned with that and go all in.”

Newcastle United predicted starting XI v Everton

With all that in mind, here’s how we’re predicting Newcastle to line-up:

GK: Lukas Hornicek

Matthias Jaissle might have rotated his goalkeepers, had Ewen Jaouen been fit. But Nick Pope won’t get a look in unless Hornicek picks up an injury.

RB: Amar Dedic

Ideally you’d want to rest Dedic after his recent injury, but there is no other recognised option with Lewis Miley a doubt and Tino Livramento injured.

CB: Fabian Schar

Newcastle looked a lot more solid with Schar and Dan Burn at the back. The defence is one of those positions you don’t want to change, unless you absolutely have to.

CB: Dan Burn

Burn’s leadership and experience made a huge difference to the team at Selhurst Park.

LB: Lewis Hall

Hall is one of the first names on the teamsheet and it’s hard to see that changing.

CM: Nico Gonzalez

Even in defeats against Coventry City and Aston Villa, Gonzalez was the standout performer. He was at Palace on Sunday too, and this time he had the result to show for it.

CM: Jacob Ramsey (in for Joelinton)

Ramsey made his comeback from injury as a substitute at the weekend and could now step up his fitness by returning to the starting line-up.

RW: Anthony Elanga (in for Jacob Murphy)

Elanga is such a big player for Newcastle and here, like Ramsey, feels like the ideal opportunity to give his first start since early September.

LW: Harvey Barnes

Barnes can be a frustrating watch in the main, but at least you know he’s capable of scoring at any moment.

AM: Joe Willock

After almost leaving in the summer, Willock has established himself as a regular since Matthias Jaissle arrived as head coach.

ST: Yoane Wissa (in for Will Osula)

Osula is only recently back from injury, so depending on how he is physically, Newcastle might not want to take any risks. If that’s the case, Wissa likely starts.
