Newcastle United call-up four U21s v Hull City as fresh injury blow confirmed - nine ruled out
Newcastle United team news v Hull City: Matthias Jaissle has called up several youngsters to his first-team squad.
Newcastle United host Hull City at St James’ Park in the Premier League this afternoon.
Matthias Jaissle’s side have several injury absences for the match with Joelinton, Dan Burn, Anthony Elanga, William Osula, Amar Dedic, Nico Gonzalez, and Jacob Ramsey all confirmed to be out prior to the match. Ewen Jaouen returned to training this week following an ankle injury but didn’t make the cut for the matchday squad against the Tigers with Nick Pope keeping his place on the bench.
But in the absence of several senior players, Jaissle has turned to the Under-21s squad to bolster his bench.

17-year-old Mason Miley keeps his place on the bench after the trip to Leeds United, while Michael Mills, who also made the journey to Elland Road but wasn’t named in the matchday squad, has now been included for the first time.
Also called up to the Newcastle senior squad for the first time in the Premier League are summer arrival from Arsenal Kyran Thompson, defender Miodrag Pivas and forward Vakhtang Salia. Right-back Tino Livramento was primed to return to the starting line-up for the first time since this season in the absence of Dedic but was not part of the group that arrived at St James’ Park ahead of the match.
Livramento was called up to the England squad on Friday along with Lewis Hall but is now a doubt to join up with Thomas Tuchel’s side next week.
Newcastle head into Saturday’s match against the Tigers looking for their first home win in the Premier League this season. Hull are unbeaten so far in the league this season following their promotion from the Championship.
They have also never lost at St James’ Park in the Premier League, a record Jaissle’s side will be hoping to end.
