Newcastle United take on Hull City at St James’ Park in the Premier League this afternoon.

Matthias Jaissle has been dealt a fresh injury setback as Tino Livramento will miss the clash against Hull City.

Newcastle United fans had already prepared to see a patched-up side this afternoon. Dan Burn, Joelinton, Will Osula, Anthony Elanga, Nico Gonzalez, Jacob Ramsey and Amar Dedic are sidelined.

Jaissle - not usually one to reveal team news - confirmed to reporters on Thursday that he is facing a mini injury crisis. That misery has compounded further as Livramento is out of the matchday squad.

This is a fresh blow for the 23-year-old who, on Friday, was recalled to the England setup. To put his record into context, this is the ninth injury Livramento has suffered since joining the Magpies in 2023.

Lewis Miley will be asked to deputise at right-back - jst as he did last season. Lukas Hornicek, Malick Thiaw, Fabian Schar and Lewis Hall complete the backline.

In midfield, a makeshift pairing of Sean Steur and Joe Willock anchor the engine room. A three-pronged support act of Harvey Barnes, Yoane Wissa and Jacob Murphy will supply the bullets to Matias Fernandez-Pardo up front.

Newcastle face a Hull side flying high following their Premier League promotion. The Tigers remain undefeated and came close to a famous triumph away to Chelsea last weekend.

As for the Magpies, a result today will renew the optimism on Tyneside going into the international break. Jaissle will then hope to have several big hitters back in action for the trip to Coventry City on October 12.
